Giant Black Marlin sole charter

Description:

Giant Black Marlin are a pelagic fish and follow the warm currents around the world, it is here in Northern Queensland from Cairns and north along the Ribbons reef as far as Lizard Island that they come to play and breed between the months of September and December. Our area is the only known area where we consistently catch Giant Black Marlin between 500lb and 1000lb plus. Keen anglers come here to fulfil their dream of tagging a 'Grander' (1000lb +)
MV Billfish, like most of the game boats, operates out of Cairns and Cooktown at this time of year and the best chance of fulfilling that dream is to book a minimum of 5 days liveaboard. The cost is $3150 per day all inclusive of bait, tackle, crew, meals, soft drinks and waters, snacks, linen and towels. We will provide some beers however if you have a specific spirit or beer we ask you to BYO.
During the season we always have a few stray days of which we will open up to sole charter day trips ex Cairns, so if you can only spare one day please contact us and we can see what we can do to accommodate you.
On our liveaboard charters we will take a maximum of 4 anglers
On our day charters we will take a maximum of 5 anglers.

Billfish is a 43ft luxury game boat operating sports fishing charters out of Cairns. Our operation extends from light tackle share and sole charters January to August to Heavy Tackle extended liveaboard or mothershipping, fishing for Giant Black Marlin along the Ribbons Reef and Continental shelf on the Great Barrier Reef from September to December, we can also offer day sole charters on space available notice only.
Our target species can vary throughout the year, depending on the season. On 15 kg line anglers can hook up on Spanish Mackerel, Tuna, Barracuda, Sailfish, Juvenile Black Marlin and other pelagics (surface feeding fish), while heavy tackle fishing targets the giant black marlin.

Heavy Tackle is only for targeting Black Marlin. We operate this style of fishing between September to December, however we have in the past couple of years still been catching giant blacks during January. We do not mix other style of fishing i.e Light Tackle or Medium Tackle when a Heavy Tackle charter is booked. When fishing for Giant Black Marlin on a heavy tackle day the angler fishers out of the chair with 130lb line.
